Built stout as hell. I had some clearance issues with the rear mount next to the body mount bolt. This would greatly benefit with a 1" body lift to give the needed clearance to move the skid closer to the back of the jeep. At least a full inch more clearance than stock.  All jeeps are slightly different so some might not experience the same problem. Still happy with my purchase  and much better looking than the a aluminum pop can.

01 Jeep TJ

The product itself is top notch, nicely made parts, innovative design.  This thing assembled is absolutely stunning and it's a shame it's under the Jeep and so hidden from view.  I'll definitely look into adding more Metalcloak items where they can be seen based on the workmanship I have seen here.

Installation was a breeze, even though we didn't need instructions we looked them over and a novice could easily tackle this job themselves, with the help of a friend.  The skid's fit and form was spot on and it slid into place with no issues at all.

Assembly went smooth, the only thing that hung us up was when we went to assemble it we didn't have enough hardware.  3 bolts and 4 nuts short, quick run to the hardware store and we had what we needed, albeit a little longer than needed, we just put those where they were out of the way.

Haven't used it on the trails yet but I can tell it's going to be tough to beat the quality and strength.

Gas Tank Skid September 27, 2014

Came with no directions.  I needed to empty the tank completely to get it to fit in the skid then it was about 3/4"-1" from being bolted all the way up once it hit the floor boards of the jeep.  I removed it and shaved 1/2" off the plastic straps on the top of the tank for more clearance.  Once I did this I could get it close enough to start the bolts.  I loosened the body mounts to give me more room as well.  Then retorqued them once the tank was tight.  I think I am going to go back at put a 1/8" 3/16" body lift for a little more room since the tank is being compressed.    Other then that, I like the look and design.

TJ Gas Tank Skid July 31, 2014
Reviewer: Allen Carr from Saxonburg, PA United States
The skid is very well made and no doubt will protect the tank. The steel component was nicely powder coated and presented well. The aluminum parts were a disappointment, they came straight from the laser cutter to the press brake and into the box. They showed up with the laser cut edges being completely sharp with no attempt to remove or soften any of the laser cut edges. Fortunately they are light weight and easy to handle so I didn't get cut, but for the price a little bit of deburring would go a long way. They also claim to use stainless hardware in many applications, but I guess this is not one of them because zinc plated steel is what came with this. A trip to the store for SS bolts is now in my future before installation. I do think this is a well built component and will perform great on the trail. With as much hype this company gets for building high end products I guess I set my bar a little too high.
